Update

Good Morning Duran School Families,

It was so nice that the sun is shining outside at recess today--however, we could do with a little warmer temps. I hope you are all able to get outside this weekend. Here are the updates from this week:
- Teachers continued discussing and practicing the procedures that we use for lock-downs. The state of Maine requires that we perform 8 fire drills and 2 lock-down drills per year. We are working closely with law enforcement to conduct the drills in a way that are efficient and not overwhelming for staff or students. Students will practice two lock-downs in the coming weeks.
- We have kicked off our Bikes for Books reading challenge. Your child's teacher will be sending home forms to record the books they've read. We have been very encouraged to see all of the forms come in this week! Keep reading!
- We are continuing our March Madness with books. Next week's match-ups are between authors Ryan T. Higgins and Chris Van Dusen. Students will read several of their books and vote on their favorites!
- The district's Director of Guidance, Leslie Smith, wants to make all families aware of an upcoming virtual information session on crisis services. For more information, the flyer is posted in this post.
